We require a consultant who really understands the health and social care landscape in the North East. They must already have good links and relationships with key agencies and voluntary organisations and have their ear to the ground. We need intelligence and insight on what is going on in North East – what is working and what is not, where is the innovation, how is integration progressing, how are voluntary groups involved in Service Transformation Plans and who is doing what on such initiatives as social prescribing and so on.
